The @1614 series is proud to present Oklahoma City artist Holly Wilson. Holly is the featured artist for the month of August.

“It starts with seeing something in my life that strikes a cord; the interaction of people both real and imagined, the way my daughter and son each sit differently to look at an object on the ground.”

“I then begin working that over in my head as I chase my 2 kids around the house or try to make myself go to sleep at night. These stories of present and past, and of dreams of nature are realized through the use of figure.” — Holly Wilson.

Please take a moment and check out more of Holly’s work at her website - www.hollywilson.com

Notes on the Film - It was so much fun filming Holly’s work, because it has so much depth and character to it. I really did enjoy it - and the focus for this piece was truly the work. It was great to be able to film 3 dimensional work. I used a 50mm macro for some of the shots - as that came in quite handy.

Music from the film is from Oklahoma based Oida. I really appreciate them allowing me to access their library for the soundtrack.

Also - for the first time, @1614 has a sponsor! we are so excited to have SHOP GOOD on board with this project. They are a great store and we wish the all the best!!

Please visit the facebook EVENT PAGE for more details.

Thanks for watching.

We just completed what I think could be the most important project we have worked on to this date.

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s “Food for Kids” program. This program provides backpacks of food for the weekend to kids in need. It was such an honor to be a part of this poroject with the Food Bank.

The film was truly a blast to make — and we want to thank everyone who helped make it happen. You guys were so great to work with - and did a great job.

The film was shot over the course of several days. We shot at a couple of area Oklahoma City public schools - along with the Food Bank itself.

Shooting the kids was great. They were so well behaved — and did exactly what we wanted them to do. I thought they looked fantastic - and were the stars of the film!!

I guess the thing thing that really stuck out with me during production of this film — was the true need that exist here in OKC for our kids. It blew me away that a donation of $200 could provide a backpack for a year. That was incredible to me. This is an issue that is just not thought about - unless you are in the middle of the situation.

My hope is this film will do its part to raise awareness about the program - and motivate people to do something. I don’t think we have to do to much - to make a huge impact on many young lives.

These kids need our support - and I think we live in a community that is more than  capable of helping them.

Thanks so much for watching - and if you have any questions about the program please contact the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

If you have any questions about the film - just ask me. thanks.

It was such an honor and privilege to be able to produce the commercial for the American Cancer Society’s “Cattle Baron’s Ball”.

We had a great time creating it - and I think that it turned out really great. I need to thank the actors and Cancer Survivors for participating this year. You guys were awesome.

The @1614 series is proud to present Oklahoma City artist Jerrod Smith. Jerrod is the featured artist for the month of July.

Emerging from the Oklahoma art scene, Jerrod Smith has found success in collaborating with other artists to make Oklahoma a community that supports young artists. Smith’s collection of mixed media work expresses personal thoughts and his every day life through pre-existing images of past generations.

His work is not just a collection of artifacts and old pictures, but also paintings. With a B.F.A from the University of Central Oklahoma, he has studied painting, photography, screen printing and other media and has found himself drawn to incorporating them all.

“With mixed media there are no restrictions to re-creating the images in my head,” Smith said.

In much of his work the style used is emulated from the aged quality of a photograph that has been folded up and crinkled from riding around in a wallet. He sees sympathy in the connection people have with images of the past, especially when he can view the bumps, scratches and tears of age in his materials.

Notes on the film - With this film, I went a little different direction than previous @1614 films. Jerrod didn’t have a lot of his art ready to be filmed at the timing of this shoot. So the final film focused more on the artist - rather than the artwork. I actually like the way it turned out  - and will try and implement more of this technique going forward.

Please visit the FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE to get more details about the event. We hope to see you Friday!

A group of Oklahoma World War II veterans loaded up and made the trip to Washington D.C.

It’s called Honor Flight. It is a program that gets World War II veterans to D.C. so they can see the memorial and other sites in the D.C. area.

The trip takes place all in one day!!! So it is a bit crazy. The caravan left for the airport at 4:30 in the morning - we made it back home around 11 at night… a bit tiring but definitely worth it.

The Sunday before the trip the veterans were honored at a reception in Oklahoma City - and then they took off bright in early the next day.

The trip was really neat - and I believe the veterans had a great time. Some said the trip brought back some really tough memories - but some said it was the greatest day of their lives.

It was truly a honor to be able to sit and talk with these guys. I met a veteran who was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked - and another gentleman who was actually on site to see the flag raised at Iwo Jima. You can see him at 2:19.

Since the trip was so tight - we didn’t get to spend that much time at any one site. So that made filming a bit tough - aside from having to deal with some bad rain.

That said - I believe the trip was overall a huge success - and was so impressed with the demeanor and class the vets carried themselves.

This was truly a great trip to be a part of.

Midwestmedia & Marketing had the honor to create a promotional video for the Plaza District, which we now call home.

The video premiered at the 2010 Urban Pioneer Award honoring Steve Mason for his revitalization of Automobile Alley.
